Blessing for Injustice

This blessing comes in the anger swelling within,

Bursting out in a downpour of tears.

This blessing comes in the anger lashing out,

Driving away the loved one nearby, yet so desperately needed.

This blessing comes in the despair,

Closing off possibilities, denying any dreams,

Any hopes and thoughts of finding joy.

This blessing comes in the despair, ripping away energy,

Losing focus of life’s purpose, simple objectives.

This blessing comes in the immense grief of seeing life stripped,

Knowing of no return to the same dreams, the same future.

This blessing comes in immense grief of recognizing others,

Knowing injustices entangles and chokes life for so many.

This blessing comes for them, too,

Tortured in China, subjugated in Myanmar,

Neglected at the border, imprisoned unjustly.

This blessing comes to wipe out assaulting anger,

Debilitating despair, galactic grief, the fallout of injustice.

This blessing comes in the watching God

Lift the oppressed, feed the hunger,

Heal the sick, free the imprisoned.

This blessing comes in the waiting,

For God is justice,

For God is love.

Love and justice will reign.
